The Shortsville Fire Department is here to help out the community by educating them on Fire Prevention and Safety.
This is offered to any organization in Ontario County New York.
About the Fire Prevention Trailer
Inside the Fire Prevention Trailer
The fire prevention trailer has an educational area where we can sit about 20 to 25 persons inside the trailer to demonstrate or education them on fire prevention.
The Training Area
We can teach on kitchen safety with the small kitchen that we have.
We also have videos on all kinds of fire prevention topics that can be shown on the tv.
Joe the Fireman & Pluggy
We have Joe the fireman and Pluggy to help us teaching fire prevention.
Children are intrigued by these two and love to interreact with them.
Educating Children on Fire Prevention
Each year, the Shortsville and Manchester Fire Departments work together to education children of the Red Jacket Central School.
They are taught basic STOP, DROP, and ROLL. They are shown what firemen wear, the tools they use, and shown the fire trucks.
How to use A Fire Extinguisher
We can teach you how to use a fire extinguisher. We will also show you the different types of extinguishers there are and what one to use to put out a fire.
How to Escape a Burning Building
The fire prevention trailer we have can simulate a room that is filling up with smoke.
We will teach you the best way to get out of a smoking room.
This live demonstration will show you how fast a room can fill with smoke and also how fast it can get where you can't see anything.
